Overcoming
the Limitations of Query/400 This session
will focus on converting query definitions to SEQUEL views so as
to enable results to be formatted as PC reports, downloaded into
Excel files, emailed in a variety of PC file formats, drilled into
for further detail, pivoted directly on the iSeries, and charted.
In addition, performance and security issues will also be addressed.
Building Executive Dashboards with Key Performance Indicators
We'll build executive dashboards useful in understanding where the
business is going. We will: 1. analyze order entry and shipping
data to evaluate the efficiency of shipping and accounts receivable.
2. aggregate sales and cost data to spot trends across time, looking
at daily, month to date, and year to date results by year, region,
customer type, item, and any other variables available in the database.
3. look at financial data and see how accounts trend over time as
a percent of sales. We'll also look at financial ratios.
Financial
Reporting and Analysis This session will focus
on using SEQUEL to create financial statements, income statements
and balance sheets, from the general ledger file. We'll look at
SEQUEL's ability to drill into underlying detail (accounting entities,
sub accounts, ledger entries, etc.) with no prior definition of
drill paths.
We will also demonstrate how SEQUEL can enhance the budgeting process
by uploading departmental budget data from multiple Excel files,
automatically, to a physical file on the iSeries. We can then compare
budget data with actual data and use SEQUEL's dynamic drill and
regroup to highlight problem areas.
